Displayed at The UAL Graduate Showcase 2024, Six Foot Gallery and the Edinburgh Health and Wellbeing Festival

Based on the journey from studio to dreamscape, this piece delves into the journey from the studio to daydream. Aiming to show how isolation can cause someone to delve further into themselves, and further away from reality. Displaying uncanny in-between spaces, this piece is inspired by the scripted spaces we encounter in daily life. Investigating how emotion can colour the way we see physical and imaginary space.

‘Gazing Out’, Acrylic on Board, 101 x 101 x 1.8cm, 2025

Inspired by long commutes through the Scottish Coast, this piece reflects the view from a double decker bus. The change in perspective and use of line capture the feeling of gazing into a landscape whilst sitting outside of it. With the sky acting as a dreamlike staircase inviting the viewer inside.

This piece captures the childlike wonder of experiencing a storm crash across the rocks as you sit amongst them. The serene colours, combined with a flattened landscape create a painting which showcases the chaos in a calming way.

‘Windows’, Acrylic on Board, 61 x 61 x 1.8cm, 2025

These pieces play with the relationship between technology and painting through their depiction of false 2D images.

With ‘Windows’, clashing the desktop with a surrealist landscape, highlighting its depiction of a non tangible space.

Whilst ‘Screentime’ uses the depiction of a projection to highlight the falsity of the painting itself.

‘Mirror’, Acrylic and ink on Canvas Board, 153.5 x 77.5 x 2cm, 2025

Inspired by the mirror of a closed and empty bar, this piece plays with the relationship between the surface of the painting and the space it depicts. Painted on a used printing table, with the ink beneath shining through the paint, the lights appear flatly on top of the space. The marks on the piece also indicating a flat pane between the room and the viewer.

Inspired by Instagrams explore page, this painting captures the way a screen can separate the viewer from an objective reality. By using the window as a physical wall, and showcasing a segmented landscape, the icy space becomes inaccessible to the viewer.

These pieces depict delving into a gallery space inside an repurposed mill. Looking to show how the artwork can be dived into inside the space.

Moving Past Fat Dan’, Acrylic on Board, 140 x 100 x 1.8cm, 2024

This self portrait features the Fat Dan statue from Dundee’s City Centre. After using the statue as a landmark for meeting up with friends as a kid, this painting explores what it’s like moving past him as an adult after returning home.

Loading Time’, Acrylic on Board, 61 x 122 x 1.8cm, 2024

This piece shows an empty train station, focusing on the lack of humanity in the space. Inspired by indie horror games each object is individually rendered, with an eery never ending pathway. The technology used as a focal point highlights the lack of people inside the space, inviting the viewer inside the isolation.
